2024 predictions round-up

As we embark on 2024, here’s a roundup of some of the top predictions from the industry.  

Property: 

  • React News – Sellar to sell Paddington Square and Lone Star to complete sale of Wembley Park. 
  • React News – BTR operators, such as Greystar, Realstar, Get Living and Quintain, could partner up. 
  • The Times – Falling inflation and the potential lower interest rates to benefit homeowners. 

Retail: 

  • Retail Times – Consumers to spend more money on “everyday treats” in the health and beauty sector. 
  • Retail Times – The home improvement sector to face another challenging year. 
  • Retail Week – For online fashion retailers, pre-loved shopping with become even more mainstream. 

Politics: 

  • The Times – The upcoming election to be one of the longest, most expensive and nastiest in history. 
  • BBC News – With the upcoming mayoral election, a sizeable majority of MPs in the capital are Labour so the vote is predicted to swing this way, which will affect ULEZ. 

Culture: 

  • The Times – The appointee for director of the British Museum to have a challenging year ahead considering the negative press it received in 2023. 
  • The Guardian – Having been named UK City of Culture 2025, Bradford is expected to become a cultural hotspot, with thousands of new jobs created.
