Portman Village Gets Baking

On Wednesday 23rd July, Coverdale Barclay oversaw the PV Bake Off and Street Fest at Portman Square Gardens and Portman Village for the first time. The much-loved restaurants, shops and hotels in and around Portman Village submitted 30 beautifully presented cakes and biscuits, all to be judged by an expert judging panel, led by reigning champion of The Great British Bake Off, Frances Quinn.

The entries were spectacular, from Daisy Green’s MEGA banana bread sandwich to The Lockhart’s winning Lemon Ice Box Pie, and of course not forgetting The Hyatt’s impressive recreation of William Churchill out of icing on their British-themed Decorative Cake.

With the garden filled with sunshine, live music playing, and an array of tasty dishes on offer from the Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill, Lanes of London, The Thistle, Radisson Blu and summer drinks from Home House, a enjoyable afternoon was had by all.

Raising money for local charity for London’s homeless, the West London Day Centre, guests could ‘pin the beard on Paul Hollywood’ for prizes and enter the raffle to win a host of exciting prizes, including prosecco at Vinoteca and food and drink at The Portman.

After guests ate their fill of free cake, the party headed to New Quebec Street and Seymour Place, with live music from Charlotte Campbell and Tyler Rix of London GIGs and singer/songwriter Charlene. Revellers enjoyed al fresco drinking and dining at Portman Village‘s restaurants as well as a spot of late night shopping.

Many thanks to all those who too part in the event, and all those who attended. Please visit www.portmanvillage.com for a full list of winners.
